So after few weeks of looking at 2nd hand Tiguans I decided to buy a new one. This was mostly down to the fact that the new ones have been slightly updated for 2019 and some good discount i was getting.
I did have my doubts, after reading and seeing the front assist braking issue being discussed, but i suppose this is a minority number of cars and all car manufacturers have some problems.
I currently have a Golf Match 2.0L TDI MK 6 which i really like and has been very reliable for me. So i decided to stick it out with VW.
So I currently have on order (28/08/19)
Tiguan R Line Tech 2.0L TDI 190 4 motion DSG
Oryx White
Vienna Leather with rear heated seats
Nav Pro
Dynaudio sound
DCC and Tyre pressure monitor.
Been quoted 14 - 16 weeks so just got to wait....
In the mean time I have this amazing forum to keep me busy and updated of what to expect. Most of you seem very happy with your cars.
Here's hoping you'll get the car mid October.
There was a post saying the 190 Tdi engine has disappeared off the VW configurator. What might your dealer be able to say here?
Hoping your options don't put the list price (before any discounts but not including registration and first years vehicle tax) over the dreaded £40k barrier. If it has then you'll be paying a lot more road fund licence in years 2 to 6 inclusive.
I was quoted 26 weeks delivery for mine and it arrived in 12.
The 190 is a decent strong engine but it won't release its full potential until you've got a couple of k on it.
Re the dreaded £40k , I would expect this configuration to go well above the £40k mark. The list price on mine was £38900 without any options and Oryx white paint is a £1000 option on its own
Thanks for your replys. Yes the car did go over the 40k list price mark so I will have to pay the extra tax for years 2-6. However i saved a quite a bit on the list price and got it less than what carwow quoted by 1k so depends how you look at it. I would of gone for the BiTurbo but this met my overall needs in the long run with the Mrs driving it and 2 kids. I was very tempted to buy the Biturbo but I would of just kept burning fuel with my very heavy foot. Also the fake exhaust trim put me off! I just dont undertand that.
I bought through Drivethedeal and everything so far has been fantastic.
I been naughty. I went against my word and changed the order to the BiTdi. The dealer let me with no penalties. I was going to pay the 2-6 year tax regardless so just made sense in the end... Now i'm going to leave the order alone.
Yes I am. Yes they where the cheapest and then when you get it on PCP you get the deposit contribution which all works out great. Chuck in all the extras.
However I have just messaged him this morning regarding the black rear spoiler now coming up on the configuration. Told him I will not accept a car with a black spoiler. It just feels like a rollercoaster ride at the mo. I really like the car but sometimes there are principles you have to stick to.
Did yours come with a white r line spoiler though? If im correct i seen a picture and you have added a modification yourself. Yours actually looks smart as it not overdone.
Did you get an answer back about the black spoiler question to the dealer. I was the original Poster for the black spoiler question. Not heard anything from my dealer on it.

From his response he didnt know the spolier had changed on the online configuration. He said he had phoned and then forwarded my email to VW U.K as I sent a few screen shots. I just now wait a response. To be fair its not the dealers fault but its a shame the factory/head department dont be more clear about these things with them and us. I am making sure that I have some eveidence of all this and especially where it list the rear spoiler in body colour so I have a better chance of getting my deposit back if we get to that stage. If not through them then my credit card supplier.

He's a good guys and does try to help where he can, one of the better guys we've dealt with. I know what you mean about the spoiler, looks a bit silly, older look was better, I suppose you could always get a body shop to spray it but then you're messing with oem config and at your cost. Not sure I'd walk away over it tho!

Thanks for the photo. Your photo just answered my next question. Is the spoiler 2 piece on yours even though its white. Clearly it is.
So this leaves a possibility of having the black part one painted if thats how there now going to come. I could take this up with my dealer see what he says.
Your spoiler looks good. Imagine if the extension was black on yours then the lip you added might not have same contrast as it does now.
Yep, agree think this lip and the front splitter only have impact on a white car. Might get lost on others, plus it's so close to the original that on the front especially it looks close to factory:

VW UK have confirmed the spoiler is body coloured, the pictures come from the factory, as they are incorrect on the web site they will be speaking to digital team about this.
