Depends how old yours is! From my point of view I'd rather wait for the new one in the summer than buy the existing one in the spring. It's rumoured to be getting updated software to the Active Display and Dynamic Indicators as well, but we'll see about that next month. And possibly a wider range of colours again??

Not enough changes to make me think i need to buy one.
Suspect what might make me think about changing would be the appearance of a GTE or 300PS "R" version. Only then might I think about saying bye bye 230 R-Line Tech.

Is that it? Seems like they suffered from the current mk2 being so well received / not criticised they have played too safe and only tinkered with a result which looks less resolved IMO.
Looks like the grille is smoothed for less drag / improved mpg like the golf.

The only facelift needed on the current mk2 is the bland interior design

Need to finally get rid of those awful orange lights on the climate control etc , I had those in my 02 plate Gti back in day! Some modernising of that , nice colour ambient lighting, bring back the heated steering wheel , wireless CarPlay/android auto , integrated fog lights or at least LED ones at the bottom, more modern tail lights with dynamic indicators and it's all good &#x1f64c-1f3fb; I my eyes , oh yeah make the black edition available

That would keep my happy for a few more years &#x1f44d-1f3fb;

agreed on that, however I'm of to the BMW dealer at the weekend.
What are you looking at?
I've been looking at X5 40 and 50 D's, was going to keep my Tiguan but now I'm thinking I will probably look to getting myself into one of those next March.

Something different from the tig. M135 or the m340 this time

Well I tried the M135 and found it a little cramped and manic when accelerating. Soooooo, an already built M340 Saloon in mineral white has been ordered to beat the April price and tax increases.

Nice, I bet that goes a bit

I love my R-Line but I've pretty much made my mind up that I'm going to be in an X5 M50d this time next year.

It astounds me how often you guys in the UK buy new cars, in Oz that does not happen so much. Is it the corrosion from the roads and weather?
You just can't beat the feeling of having a new car, it's nice to have a new one every couple of years. :D

Our last car was 15 years old, 12 years of which in our ownership. We do not intend keeping the VW as long as that, though.

One of the benefits of changing every couple of years is that you avoid the mandatory MOT test, due annually once the car is three years old and becoming ever more stringent in its scope.

Back to facelift Tigs....I wonder if they are throwing their weight behind the ID4 electric SUV rather than a new Tiguan?????? It's all over VW UK's website !

One of the major reasons is that most new cars are leased on three year deals rather than sold over here. So at the end of your 3 year lease you either have to stump up a lump sum to keep it, or just trade it in for another 3 year lease.

Personally I buy mine so I have the freedom to change it when I want to - hence why I'm able to wait for the facelifted Tiguan - but still find maintenance costs rising as the car gets older. My Golf SV has just needed the expensive 5 year service (with brake fluid change and cambelt change) while my Golf Mk 4 was developing faults in its sunroof motor and aircon after 7 years.

So you start to balance the higher maintenance costs against the cost of a new car with extra toys in it! :)

The ID 4 certainly looks quite close to a Tiguan https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/electric/id/id-family/id-4
But will need much more in way of charging infrastructure investment as well as a decent range before I will be ordering one.
One wonders if motorway charging facilities will be very much more expensive than elsewhere as petrol and diesel is right now and will the charging costs be posted on pole signs as for petrol and diesel? All largely unknown.
