I have an early mark2 and can confirm that once the parking brake has been put into the pad replacement position, ( I have OBD11 now for this) then the rear caliper pistons can simply be pushed back, they don’t need to be turned back clockwise or anti clockwise. Another thing of note, if you have the 300mm solid rear discs, these can be removed and replaced without the need to remove the calliper retaining bracket. Will save you the cost of replacement bolts, which are stretch bolts and therefore shouldnt be reused.
