I am new to the forum.
I take delivery of my new Tiguan next month and need to decide on which door sill protectors (scuff plates) to go for.

Apparently I can have a set of 4 black plastic/vinyl door sill protectors or if I want aluminium ( I have a set of 4 on my current mark 1 Tiguan) then VW can only supply a set of 2 for the front door sills. Not sure why they do not make a set of aluminium for the rear doors but there you are!
Can anyone advise on which ones to opt for ? has anyone got these on their new Tiguan and if so do you have any photos??
I asked the dealership to get both sets in for me to look at and then choose, but they said they cannot order parts in for me to look at because if they order them in then I have to pay for them even if I don't want them!!
HELP!!

Hi there, ref your dealer ordering these sill trims and you having to buy them B*#*sh**t, they can can speculative order them or failing them admitting so, go to your local Trade Parts Specialists whom I work for, and they will order them in for you with no cost/penalty as it is VWG own stock therefore no reason for them to return to Dordon which is there main distribution centre that delivers to TPS sites daily, anymore questions regarding VW STOCK availability please ask it takes me 2 mins to check availability.

Thank you stuarty2008 for your response. That is interesting because we asked VW Bromley and VW Sevenoaks and they both told us that if they order them in then we have to pay for them. In the end Sevenoaks has today agreed to order the 2 sets in and "swallow the cost" !
Should think so too as we are ordering 2 new Tiguans from them costing £64,000!! Plus I am sure they can sell them to someone else anyway!
Excuse my ignorance but when you say local Trade Parts Specialists, do you mean VW dealership parts department?
Finally is it correct that VW do not make a set of aluminium scuff plates for the rear door sills? If not do you know of any plans for these to become available in the future?
Knowing my luck I will opt for the set of black plastic ones as they come in a set of 4 and then next month VW will produce a set of 4 aluminium door sills! This scenario happened with the car order - we ordered in November 2016 and I asked if a heated windscreen was available as an option but was told that it wasn't. This was a shame as this was something I really wanted and now I look at the VW website and it is available as an option! Typical - if I had waited a couple more months it seems that I could have had a heated windscreen. Oh well I will just have to carry on using the ice scraper!!
