I have a 2020 1.5TSi Match. (manual and petrol). I note one member reported a similar problem back in 2021, but did not get an answer, so hoping someone can help now.
This problem occurs randomly and infrequently, but when it does it can be problematic if I am pulling out of a busy rounabout or junction. If I am pulling out of a junction, the engine revs sometimes fall dramatically as if the car is about to stall. Sometimes by depressing the clutch and pressing the accelerator, the engine will pick up evs and I can pull away, but the hesitation can be unsettling. Sometimes the engine will stall. This problem seems to occur most when I am approaching a junction at slow speed and then try to pull away. On other occasions (again fairly rare), as I come to pull away from stationary from a junction in 1st gear, the engine just cuts out. I then find myself dipping the clutch and pressing the accelerator. Sometimes it starts sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to re-start - not good at a busy junction.
I have had the car 9 months and the problem occurs so infrequently that I have not been able to identify any key aspects about when the engine cuts out - but it does it if I am in 1st or 2nd when I am moving slowly, then try to piull away . At first I thought it was me not having enough revs and the car stalling, but it has occured to both my wife and myself sufficiently often that we are both confident this is not the case.
As a separate issue (but wondering if they could be related), we have both noted that when the car first starts in the morning (summer or winter) and we set off slowly and change into 2nd the car is very jerky (kangeroo petrol syle), but the clutch pedal has been fully released - only occurs for about 25metres, then when we change into 3rd its fine, even if we change back down to 2nd, its still fine.
The car is booked in for a service at the VW stealership we bought it from (car has the VW Warranty) and the problem has been reported, but I have been told that they will run a diagnostic, but if no faults are found, they will charge me for the diagnostic.
I would like to prepare myself in the event they say there are no fault codes, as I know the car is not behaving as it should.
Is this a known problem, if so what is the likely cause, particularly if no fault codes are apparent. Have you been able to fix it and if so what did they do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks
