I am considering fitting front and rear dashcams to by 2017 Tiguan. Are there any good sources of information on how to remove and replace the relevant internal trim panels on the tailgate and the route to the front of the car?

Fitting the cameras seems to be straightforward, but I am concerned about being able to get the panels off and back on without damaging them.

If it was me, I'd pay a specialist installer to do it. Money well spent imo. Oh, not Halfords, they're neither specialist or installers ;)

I was wary of Halfords, as I guess their staff are very variable - like tyre centres - and I don't want someone else causing the damage I am worried I MIGHT cause myself. :)

Plus a quick search on here will give you a heap of posts on the subject, including how to avoid DAB radio issues on the rear install

I intend fitting my own front and rear in a couple of weeks, and for the past week have been taking the panels off a little one by one. The only problem I had was loosening the “bellows” between the car and tailgate, I broke this which is easily done. Already bought a replacement for £11. (I now know how they release ;))There was a good post on here with pictures by “Russboy” about routing the cables away from the relevant aerial modules to reduce interference but since the forum update I can’t find the pics.

Here is a link to all the VW workshop manuals for the MK2 Tiguan. Tiguan MK2 Workshop manuals
look for General_body_repairs__interior.pdf

Can be helpful when removing panels as shows clip locations, hidden screws and if dependant on any other panels being removed first.
Has been handy for me in the past.

Brilliant! Just what I need - the notes on how to avoid damaging clips etc.
