No charge schedule possible with 2024 ehybrid

Having spent some time with main VW agents who did not know about off peak scheduled charging and my new car and after phones calls from Germany it has been confirmed that the Tiguan ehybrid 2024 cannot be charged on a time schedule from the app or wall mounted charger. VW could not explain why this facility is no longer available. So it would seem that charging is only possible on plugging in. In order to use off peak electricity it means manually plugging in at 12.30 am!!
I have a new Tiguan Phev and have had 3 12v battery drains in the last two months already. The dealer is doing his best, even one of their own managers is having the same problem. It’s always the same issue, plug it in to charge overnight on cheap rate with Octopus Agile tariff and Ohme home pro. It doesn’t happen every time, but every couple of weeks randomly. Last time I plugged in about 5pm and at 11pm the alarm was triggered as the battery was dying. Couldn’t turn it off until battery had completely died half an hour later as the remote wouldn’t work and the car was basically dead. Neighbours were not too happy !!

hi, has anyone actualy managed to charge the tiguan ehybrid using a wall charger on a schedule? im considering an Indra smart pro but hetting slightly concerned , hoping the charger takes control and schedules the charge without 12v battery issues ? regards
After 3 dead 12v batteries in two months I have followed advice on this chat and appear to be charging on a schedule Ok……With an Ohme home pro and octopus agile tariff, I now plug it in fairly late evening (10:30ish) and switch on max charging for 30 seconds or so and then stop it and revert to a schedule which generally starts around midnight. Check that the charge light on the car has gone out completely after a minute or so. Been doing this 2-3 times a week now for three weeks, so far appears to be working……

Have you received any explanation from VW? I have same 1.5ehybrid with cupra leon and 2 batteries drained, I have legally required to refund me and return the car. No news from them yet and the car is in their dealership since last monday. It is clear the main software (same for seat/vw/audi/cupra/skoda) has a design flaw that drains the battery if you do not unplug the car after charging it. In my case I found this out during weekend given that I do not use it and left it pluged in

Strange, my 3 battery drains on my Tiguan all happened before it charged. Plugged in early evening with charging timed for after midnight and battery discharged before midnight with alarm going off. I’ve not had a battery drain after charging and leaving cable in. Multiple software issues…….

I thought that frequently charging the battery to 100% resulted in reduced battery life and, that it was better to routinely charge to 80% with occasional 100% charges? I don't have an electric car and it's been quite a while since I studied this, so could be wrong.
If I had a full electric car that I intended keeping long term then yes, I would only charge to 100% occasionally when needed. However, with a plug in hybrid with a more limited range, then I charge to 100% most of the time as I run on electric virtually the whole time, with only 1 tank of petrol used in 5 months now for a long motorway journey. I would assume a lot of people now have their cars on 2/3 years PCP so would not be too worried that long term the battery life and thus range would decrease. I previously had a Ford Kuga PHEV for two years which I always charged to 100% given a much lower range than the new Tiguan, and didn’t notice and marked reduction in battery life/range in that period. My neighbours Tesla after 3 years is now down 10% on battery life/range.
