Hi,

My oil level warning light comes on and the VW website alarmingly says that when the light comes on its sometimes too late! Unfortunately, the light came on just as I was pulling into Gatwick airport car park and I had a flight to catch! So car is in car park and I will have to go and top it up ASAP when I return. Petrol station is only a mile away, what can I safely travel before top-up, a few miles?

If it's a level light them you're probably OK to drive to somewhere close to buy suitable oil. If it's for oil pressure then don't start the engine until you've checked the level with the dip-stick and topped up as necessary. If it is a pressure warning light then engine damage may already have been done.

All OK in the end. The VW technician told me that there is around 1 litre of oil left when the warning light comes on. However, he did say do NOT ignore the light, fill up ASAP as the Tiguan can burn oil. Had the first oil service done so now nice and full and new :)
Thanks for help

How many miles has your car done. Where has all the oil gone?
