I emailed VW to ask why I could not access the security features on my car via Car Net. I got the following reply, which might be helpful for someone wanting to ask the same question:

With regards to your inquiry about the availability of specific services and functions in your Volkswagen Tiguan, we would like to politely bring your attention to the following:

Your vehicle is equipped with the "Guide & Inform" package of services (Basic and Plus), but does not feature the "Security & Service" package.

More information about the package of services available in your vehicle can be found here: https://www.volkswagen-carnet.com/en_GB/services-and-packages/guide-and-inform.html.

The availability of the services depends on the hardware with which your vehicle was equipped, during its assembly.

Unfortunately, after a car is delivered, the hardware needed cannot be retrofitted.

The above would explain why you are not able to see the options mentioned in your Email, in the Car-Net App or Web Portal, since the App/Portal adjusts to the services available in the specific vehicle which has been enrolled to the Car-Net account.

On the other hand, we can confirm that your vehicle is equipped with App-Connect: https://www.volkswagen-carnet.com/en_GB/services-and-packages/app-connect.html.

Furthermore, your vehicle is also compatible with the Volkswagen Connect App, which requires a DataPlug that can be obtained at an authorized Volkswagen Dealership:https://www.vwconnect.com/en-gb/#start.
