I was struggling to update my Tiguan 2016 with the DiscoverCare application. The software configuration is faulty, resulting with a "cannot contact update server" and I will show you how to fix it. I don't understand why VW does not provide a correct installation... As the server is unreachable, the application is completely broken, you can't switch markets, updates don't work, etc.
This guide is for the Windows version taken from the Discover Pro download page, currently 1.0.4 (Dec 2019).
Downloading the application

Fixing the application
If you extract the archive and try to launch the DiscoverCareStart.exe application, you will end up with the following error.

This is caused by wrong URLs in the configuration file, they are pointing to http pages but VW upgraded to https (for technical-oriented readers, I used Fiddler to figure this out).
Open the DiscoverCare.config.ini file next to the .exe in the /application folder.

Replace all "http://" with "https://". My file looks like this. .

Save and try to start your DiscoverCareStart.exe again. The error should have disappeared, you will be able to select your model, year, etc. ENJOY !
