Please can someone advise…
I’m looking at getting a space saver for my 21 plate R line.
Currently on standard alloys 255/40 R20
What size space saver would I require??

thanks in advance

I spec'd a space saver for my Life which came with all the fittings and a two-height floor which I see on VW's Configurator is also available for the R-Line (not available in the R model).

The size is 145/85 R18 which fits my car with 235/55 R20 and will indeed fit your car with 255/40 R20 so I would presume if ordered from VW you would get the same size space-saver. Apart from the width and side-wall height (obviously) the overall difference is minimal.

The difference is only just over 1% rolling circumference - 2236 mm for the 255/40/20 and 2211 for the 145/85/18 space saver.

Also remember that the tread depth on new tyres is around 8mm and the legal minimum is 1.6mm. So the diameter of a new to fully worn tyre can change by over 12mm.

Cheers,

Nigel
