2021 Tiguan Elegance DSG. 9000 miles.
I am having no end of issues with the start & stop button on the Tig. It either won’t start ( intermittently)
or won’t switch off.
Very annoying when you are sat on your drive for what seems like ages or in a supermarke car park trying
to start the engine. I have to keep pressing the button, circling around the button or giving it a minute
or so & trying again. It usually starts up eventually, but very annoying. Anyone with similar issues. It is
booked in for mid February, the earliest I can get in.
Thanks

Have you called VW Breakdown service (I assume you have free 12 month coverage on a new car)? It might be something they can fix and they do have specialist computers to check codes etc which might identify what the problem is. It may be even a fix they can do at the roadside or outside your home?

Good luck

There have been a few people have had problems, there's a post either on here, TRoc forum or mytiguan forum (sorry can't remember which) where some one replaced their switch. We've had our T-Cross 2 years and the button has been faultless so it may just have been a bad batch.

As mentioned though, if you can't get it to start, call VW assist, they'd have got it booked in and a courtesy car for you.

There was a discussion on the FB groups (albeit the Oz one) with numerous owners having problems withe the button. A few found success and DIYd a replacement button off AliExpress.

Seems an easy fix. I might buy one and have it on hand as an insurance policy...10 quid for being able to start your car...yeah I'll take that.

I have the very same issues with my biturbo Tiguan, its been back into the dealer who have agreed in the first instance to replace the “start/stop” button! Good luck getting it sorted.
