Well, having sung the praises of the silicon key cover (see my picture on the previous page), I found being rubber it kept snagging on my coat, then I found this on ebay, which is hard smooth plastic, snaps easily over the key, and it's even the same colour (as near as dammit!) as my car ;)

Steve
Ooo they're shiny! Can you post a link please? :)
Here you go, just select the Golf mk7 option (they're the same). Not as cheap, but I prefer the colour option.

Essjay is right - the silicone does catch on things and in pockets.

Here's another link that's from further afield, but a bit cheaper - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Paint-Metallic-Color-Cover-fit-for-VOLKSWAGEN-SKODA-Golf-7-MK7-GTI-Flip-Key-3BTN-/252185035323?var=&hash=item3ab766423b:m:mohprgvxky4D-A5bGvyNDGQ
Yeah! Breezer, I did see those on the 'bay of e', however I thought an extra couple of extra quid was worth it rather than have to wait for a month or so for a slow boat from China! This one took 24 hours ;)

My one isn't even built yet, so I can wait :D As mine is red, i tried another seller that took offers. I offered £6.80 & he accepted. If anyone wants red, try offering a bit less  - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Paint-Metallic-Color-Shell-Cover-Case-Holder-Fit-3-Buttons-GTI-Golf-MK7-Flip-Key-/152335396881?hash=item2377e5b011:g:-N8AAOSwV0RXueBU

Thinking of getting one of these in black to protect my fob:

@Steve, how has yours fared over time?

I had one of the hard plastic ones on mine, but when it went in for a service they sprayed it with sanitiser which stress cracked all of the clips and it fell apart.
I now have a white silicone one until we don't have to sanitise keys anymore.

Just leave it in a Ziploc sandwich bag when you go to get it serviced and ditch the bag afterwards?

That's what the body shop did with my wife's keys when it went in for repair last year. Seems a better solution to soaking keys in sanitiser.

My car won't be going to the dealers much more now other than for winter/summer tyre swaps., but I'll keep an eye on what they do with the keys.

Oh good shout. I have to take mine back to the dealers tomorrow to have the mud flaps & running boards fitted. Best have a root around in the kitchen for a sandwich bag
