Someone on the TRoc forum has had some success

Like others have commented I pressed download, drove two hrs up the motorway which I thought would have been enough time to download/ install it. Stopped at the services and when I got back in the car it asked me to download it again.

Tried this morning, sat in the car with the ignition on. Took approx 35m to download then turned ignition off and locked car. Went outside about 10 mins later and it said "update complete". Haven't got a clue what it's updated though

When I left work at 4am this morning, I got the update message, again, and pressed Download, again, expecting nothing to happen. When I pulled up outside my house and switched off, the Instal message came up, so I pressed install, sat there for a couple of minutes, almost fell asleep so got out and came in. I'll find out if it's installed when I leave for work this aft.

Finally got my car to download and install today after trying again and driving an hour up the motorway.
How do you know it has been successfully completed? With other cars such as Land Rovers they give details of downloads and what they are for and let you know when completed by showing the latest update number.

It came up with a message like update completed, can’t remember the exact wording

It's all very confusing. I saw the message about five days ago and I've not seen it since but I have absolutely no idea if it downloaded successfully or what if anything has changed. I've tried pressing the update button today and nothing happened so I can only presume it did it when I wasn't looking.......

Same with my car. Hence my question above asking if there is a software version screen somewhere?
Well, if anyone knows please tell!

The software version is the same page as the navigation database version, last time I checked mine I think it was software version 306 (from memory, might be wrong).

Yes, that is the same as mine but it hasn't changed even after the last two updates. All that changes every couple of months or so is the Navigation number. Is there any way of checking what these recent updates have changed - it would help if there was a screen showing the actual changes.

Not all software updates will be functional or other changes. Sometimes it's patching or background elements that are being delivered.

Not any actual detail but the above link provides some basic info.

I haven't tried this on my MIB3 system, but on the earlier version you could hold and press the 'menu' button for 3 seconds to enter the service menu, or press and hold for 10 seconds to enter the 'engineering' (green) menu which gave a bit more info.

Try this at your own risk!

I clicked the link and used the 'lookup' tool but that took me to the VW Recall/Service website but for some reason it doesn't like my VIN number.

When I'm feeling brave I might give that a go..........
