When rotating, are the tyres removed from the alloy, or is the entire wheel simply switched from front to rear (either front/back or across). I've had issues in the past with tyre pressure monitoring systems being embedded within the alloy itself so they'd give opposite readings.

Could someone verify this quirk with VW's alloys? Or is this a standard across all manufacturers, and removing tyres from the alloys is a necessity as you may need rebalancing also.
