Oh yikes! Awesome car.

Regarding the tires, do foreign registered vehicles need the tires? We are driving to Hamburg in two weeks!! Car has the standard Pirelli Scorpians...

Have you carefully read articles linked above?
In short: yes, you do need proper winter tyres in Germany. And not just because of their regulations but for your own safety

Basically it is german law that states between certain months winter or all season tyres must be worn, summer tyres i think are up to end of october mid November, however im not sure which months the changes are required.

So we have just got the car, now we have to return it so they can do the WLTP for our car or something to do with changes and stuff, im betting its the sunroof LED lights, apparently there are a few other jobs, maybe they can give me 190hp retune to make it like 2019 spec, wishful thinking. 🤔 as for Hamburg in two weeks, take winter tyres, for insurance purposes as well.

Very nice Enjoy,

can i ask why is it on winter tyres, looking at your images it does not look like the normal weather you have this time of year in Germany.

You normally see snow.
I was expecting more snow as well. Just a light dusting that would make most worry, have to say the other day we had snow, photos taken before snow, and the car handled great on continental winter tyres.

Currently sporting winter wheels on its own set of alloys, summer wheels are in wheel bags kindly given to us as a nice gift from VW themselves.
Can I ask what size tyres are fitted to your winters? As I'm currently researching what I'll need when mine arrives. Thanks.

Wardy,

I've been looking into this as well and going on the VW Konfigurator in Germany, they offer several different options for winter wheels/tyres:

1) 7J x 19 ET43 wheels with 235/50 R19 103V Winter tyres

2) 7J x 17 ET40 wheels with 215/65 R17 99H Winter tyres

3) 7J x 18 ET43 wheels with 235/55 R18 100H Winter Tyres

4) 6.5J x 17 ET38 wheels with 215/65 R17 99H Winter tyres

Hope this helps.
Jason

That's great, gives me exactly what I need. Thanks!

Would have never thought of going on the German configurator either.

Got my winters from www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk. I've got to say I was extremely pleased with the service and speed of delivery. I have an SEL Tig with the Victoria Falls Alloys. I dropped down to 7.0J x 18 ET43 5/112 with 235/55R18 100H. I went for the Borbet V alloys which were identical dimensions to the to the 18" alloys fitted on SE / SE Nav. Borbet are also an OEM alloy manufacturer for VW. Chose the Continental TS850P winter tyres and have to say that I've been very happy. Overall it cost me about £1,100.
