Running Boards and front splitter fitted

Post by Russboy » Mon Jun 10, 2019 8:18 am

Spent a few hours on the car yesterday fitting the running boards (mainly for my 4yr old so she can get in and out of the car easily) and the Maxton Design front splitter. Then gave the car a clean as our driveway is a bit of a building site at the moment (literally) so dust was everywhere, including all over me where I was laying under the car!

2 things i've learnt. Don't spend ages looking for a clip you think you've lost when it was never fitted to the car and fly's really like clean white cars!!

I get the front splitter might not be to everyone's taste and i'm unlikely to ever do any sort of off roading in the Tig. Both rear spoiler and front splitter are TUV certified so the fit is superb.

Looking very good mate, I actually like the splitter, was it easy to fit? How is it held on too?

Splitter lines up very well and being gloss black it matches all the VW black trim.

Comes with bolts, but to be honest they were a bit short, so I have drilled and used self tapping screws. Kind of needed to do that to be honest as otherwise changing a fog light bulb would be a bit of a mare. It's very solid (fit wise) so it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Whilst the nose of the car was still on the ramps I then gave all of the screws 2 splashes of undercoat to protect them.

Looks tidy Russboy, I love the running boards tbh, but I cant fit them as my old man had a stroke and struggles to walk close to car otherwise I would have fitted them. How is the spoiler piece fitted on? I do like that too hahaha

Rear spoiler is 3M double sided tape, takes 2 mins to fit, just got to get it lined up properly. Was fitted within 30 mins of collecting the car from the dealership!

Thanks, can I ask is it the plastic underneath the car you have to cut and not any of skirt that you can see?

I got mine from VW, called in a favour and got them for £150! Fitting took a couple of hours and you do have to trim a little of the plastic undertray, not much though.
