Ancel VD500 OBD2 scan tool

<t>Just bought one of these, specific to Vw/Audi. I bought it specifically as amongst other functions, it has the ability to retract and redeploy the electronic parking brake (EPB) so you can change rear pads without Vcds. Tried it and it does indeed work. Paid just under £30 through Aliexpress. The same units are around £45 a £55 on eBay.<br/>

Anyone interested in working on their rear brakes will find this of some use. It's a cheap alternative to the more risky other options of removing the electrical plug on the caliper, and applying 12 volts across the two exposed terminals to retract and then redeploy the handbrake mechanism. Alternatively, disconnecting the EPB unit by unbolting it from the caliper then winding the caliper mechanism in manually using an appropriate sized tool.</t>
