Window Seal possible theft attempt?

Post by adam0918 » Mon Jun 29, 2020 3:39 pm

Hi all,

I've had the tiguan from new 68 plate and just noticed a notch is missing from the drivers door seal. I've attached a pic for reference, does this look like something that has been done to the car ie attempted theft or is it standard on drivers side. Seal is full length on passenger side.

Thanks in advance

Adam

There certainly is a piece missing. Highly unlikely it was done deliberately as far more damaged would have been done. Perhaps it got damaged during washing, or its just broken and fallen off.

I know this may sound strange but do you have a lot of birds where you live, on one of my previous cars i caught seagulls ripping the front windscreen rubber out.

Just a thought.

Strange angle to go in at for attempted theft, without causing other damage

Is it possible to lift up the lower part of the seal to meet the top cut line?

I reckon the seal has slipped down and just needs lifting back up to the piece at the top.

Mine has a mark across it like that about 10mm from the top but is joined to the piece of yours that has moved and it looks more like a mark from when it was made and not a join
When I wiggle it both sides of the mark move together so I reckon that has been dragged down by the window and broken it
