Just thought I'd mention my problem too.

Picked up car on 15th July 2019 - so only 2 weeks driven - done nearly 600 miles mainly motorway (70%) - yesterday car stuck in traffic for about 30 mins - and that dreaded Emissions Control Lamp (Amber) came on. It is still ON.

Before anyone discusses issues with fuel - I have ONLY run the car on Shell V-Power Diesel.

Now I'm regretting getting a diesel.

Can’t see it being DPF problem after 600 miles and 2 weeks, that would be ridiculous

More likely to be an exhaust sensor issue.
Get it back to the dealer and let them sort it out.

I had this light appear a week ago. RAC attended and diagnosed something to do with the NOx sensor and advised not to drive it on any long journeys and to get it into dealer.
Took it in and it turned out to be the AdBlue injector was faulty. Repaired under warranty.

Update : So just had an RAC guy run diagnostics (Amber Emissions light suddenly disappeared) . But as the vehicle keeps a log it came up with something to do with the AdBlue Heating Element - He said the heating element that heats up the adblue before squirting into the diesel is faulty. Can’t remember the code though . So booked in at VW next Tuesday and we will take it from there.

Must admit that i drive gently. However i got up early this morning and into the Tiguan - put it in sport mode and ragged it for about 20 mins. Maybe that’s why the light went off?

The Adblue goes in to the exhaust system, it never comes in to contact with the diesel.

Sorry - you are right. My bad!

I’ve got code “DTC P148B00 Reductant Heating Output Stage, defect”

No idea what that is. Could this also explain the sudden drop in mpg?

If you Google "DTC P148B00 Reductant Heating Output Stage, defect" it does give you a bit of info on this alarm, generally that the Adblue heater has failed and needs replacing.
I hope your dealer manages to fix it quickly.

Tried googling that code and not much came up - no idea if that has been affecting mpg too.
