2016 mk2 with keyless entry/start. Of late the engine start/stop button seems to be a bit temperamental, sometimes it starts/stops on the first push, other times it takes maybe 7 or 8 attempts before it will die anything. Anyone had something similar? Any solutions?
I’ve been told a replacement button is around £40 for VW?

Engine Start Button
Re: Engine Start Button
I don't recall anyone on this forum needing a new switch but if you Google it the switches can fail.
Seems a simple enough fix if you are willing to have a go yourself.
This is on a LHD Golf but shows yo how to replace the switch yourself:

Re: Engine Start Button
As the mornings get colder, the engine wont start straight away because the glow plugs are getting heated. This can cause a delay of up to about 3 seconds sometimes I've found (assuming you have a TDI) It's not that is it?

It doesn’t seem to be that, it’s the actual operation of the button. Even to turn the ignition on without starting the car sometimes takes a few pushesTubemonster wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 5:27 pmAs the mornings get colder, the engine wont start straight away because the glow plugs are getting heated. That definitely sounds like a poorly button and needs a new one.Tilley9193 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 6:22 pmIt doesn’t seem to be that, it’s the actual operation of the button.
