New tiggy owner!!

Post by Sparkie1984 » Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:42 pm

Hi guys and girls!

So went to view and ultimately, put a deposit on a Tiguan Today!

It’s a 2018 plate SEL spec with Power tailgate and area view? Apart from that I think it’s standard.

I have the VIN for it, is there anywhere I can punch it in and see the spec? I did this for my previous BMWs but not sure if such a thing exists for VW?

What’s Area view? I assume it’s what it says but does it self park etc? I noticed it seemed to have the sides marked when I was reversing which is something I haven’t seen on other ones.

Apart from that I believe it’s a standard SEL. Although it doesn’t have Keyless - is that normal for a 2018 model?

Does anyone have access to a 2018 year brochure? I can’t seem to find it online as I like to read up on the full specs. :D

Anyways I have read through most of the forum I think now

Thanks for any help

Hi Sparkie1984. The SEL is a very good standard spec and even better with the options you mention. Keyless is not standard on the SEL model, but was a cost option when new.

Hi CNC,

Thank you for the video, I will check it out later on when home, I was looking so hard for a power tailgate and this one popped up, was a 2018 model and had 20k miles on the clock.

I thought it had a reverse camera but wasn’t until I spotted a little dot on the front bumper that I realised it has 2 cameras!! So a little bonus.

It has four cameras, one front, one back and one in each side mirror.

If you look inside the driver side door frame there should be a label with several codes on it or if you have the original handbook for the car there should be a label inside the front cover with the codes for everything that is fitted to your car. If you post the label I’m sure someone on this forum will tell you what he codes mean and ultimately what has been fitted to your car.

Sparkie1984 - the VIN will not tell you the exact specifications, as said above you need the build sticker codes as shown in this short video at about 30 seconds in

https://www.vwgenuineparts.co.uk/vw_eng ... dels.shtml

Once you have the codes enter them in to a site such as this one (Note: I haven't used this site myself so it may or may not be accurate):

Hi CNC

Thank you for your help so far! I didn’t know if it was like BMW where you can view the full specification by the VIN number, obviously this isn’t the case with VW.

It’s no problem, I’m just impatient and getting excited about getting the car
