Tiguan Coasting Function

Post by krsone01634 » Fri Aug 10, 2018 8:40 am

Hi. Does the Tiguan Coasting Function only work when car is in Eco Mode? Even when I try and adapt the Individual mode I cannot get the coasting function to work, any ideas?

I have also found a small gotcha - Put it in eco and coasting works. Come to car next day and drive off, car is still in eco mode (screen says so) but coasting will not work until you switch out of eco and then back in again. No idea why.

Fraid so. it's 'feature'.
my 4Motion DSG has a mode button by the gear selector, I press that, then ECO and it's back in Eco mode proper then

Thats really weird - On one hand they force you have to stop-start on every time you start the engine, and the other hand they force you to turn eco off and on again to get eco. Someone at VW really need to talk to people to fins out actually how people use their cars.

There's probably a way of coding it to stay on, but as mine is a lease and no guarantee of getting a VAG next time round I won't be investing in the necessary kit.
But you're right, why do you have to re-enable it every time you start up?
First world problems I know :D :D :D

The problem with coding stuff is that when the car is serviced there is a good chance they will reset all the changes made, so you’d have to do them all again anyway. ;)

I believe it has to turn on stop-start by law (the nice lady at the BMW garage was telling me) and in the future they are expecting the law to change so you can't turn it off.

Nah, not really, its unlikely your car will go near a computer during servicing unless you report a problem that has a known software fix, then its a warranty claim for the garage. Even then, they generally only reprogramme the affected module.
Otherwise, they dont plug your car in at all.
