Petrol or diesel R line tech

Post by Cooper50 » Sun Apr 21, 2019 11:41 am

My annual mileage is 8000 miles a year but I’ve been offered a fantastic offer on a 150 diesel
I just don’t know what to do?

If you do a lot of short trips then Petrol, if you do long trips then diesel.

I changed from Diesel to Petrol as we do lots of small trips and its not good for a diesel to not warm up fully to burn off the exhaust particles ect.

Work is 6 miles each way
190 petrol or the 230,isn’t the 150 a bit jerky on the DSG

Personally i would be Petrol if your journey is 6 miles then you just have to decide if you want the all out 230 model or the slightly less powered 190.

Me being slightly biased as i have a 230 would say go 230 but I appreciate people have different ideas and budget amounts they want to spend.

Keep us posted on what you go for.

6 mile commute, you'll be running into DPF issues unless you can drive it longer more often. I'd go petrol.

Offers on diesel tells you one thing
Push for the same fantastic offer on a petrol see how you get on

6 miles a dash I’d go petrol. My commute is 10 miles but my mum and in-laws live 20 miles away and I meet up with a mate every weekend who lives 30 miles away so it was diesel for me.

If it has to be a Tiguan then definitely petrol for the short 6 mile trips, the 1.5TSI would seem to be the ideal engine.

However, in your shoes with such a low mileage I would go for something completely different, perhaps a Mitsubishi PHEV that has an electric range of about 30 miles, plus it has a petrol engine if you need it for longer journeys.

I had the same dilemma.........

I don't want/need/have the budget for a 4 motion Allspace R line, so I opted for the 2 wheel drive model.
This left me with the engine choice of the 150 1.5 petrol or 2.0 diesel. The only issue is at the moment, I too cover about 8000 p/a.
Given the size of the Allspace and the fact my mileage may increase over the next couple of years, I opted for the diesel.
If the market does collapse in the diesel market over the next few years, I also have the escape route of handing it back and walking away.😀
