Tyre Pressure

Post by Still Game » Tue Jul 16, 2019 12:36 am

I was filling up my tank today and decided to check the tyre pressure for the 1st time, I was a little surprised to see them set so high 43 and 42, so I was wondering what pressure you guys run, just out of curiosity 🤔

When I picked up my Tiguan the pressures were the same as you found. Luckily, with the TPMS system fitted I have a visual readout of the pressures and the first thing I did was reset the tyre pressures to ‘normal’ which is 38 psi. The TPMS system has three settings, ‘normal - 38, ‘comfort - 34 (I think) and a high pressure setting which I forget the name of which is 42 psi(I think).

When I collected ours they were set on 42 but after a couple of weeks I reduced them to 38 so now a bit softer ride ! :D

Tyre pressures are stated on a label in the drivers door opening and will vary according to the tyre size and engine type.
On mine, a diesel fitted with 19 inch wheels, the standard pressure is 38psi- the Comfort pressure is 33 and the Max Load pressure is, I believe 42psi.
I normally run mine at 38psi.

Yeah I know the label is there that's why I was surprised at the higher pressure in the tyres

Like you guys I put them down to the 38 as per the instructions on the label 👍🏻

Must have set at 3.8 bar instead of 38 psi. :(

Don't forget to check pressures when cold so not after a run, and not after being parked up stationary all day in the sun.
Best time I find is early morning before sunrise.

I also have TPMS and often see 2psi difference due to one side being in the sun, after its been parked up all day.

And I run at 38psi.

Ok - so
Have seen guys on here with SEL 19” tyres running at 38psi. Anyone here with R-Line 20” tyres? What do you recommend running the tyres at?

38 psi as the plate by the drivers door states.
