You’d be amazed how many new cars get damaged in transit and repaired before collection, the owners would have no idea.....
Your also be amazed at how much damage gets missed on the PDI and then only gets picked up by the collecting customer.

One of my previous new cars not a VW had a damaged alloy wheel that was not picked up and it was so bad they had to order a new wheel which delayed my hand over and it was me that picked this up.

Dont take a paint protection system as compensation.

They are applied by monkeys and cost the dealer little more than £30...

Yeah, not so much damage but I had exactly this with our roof rail. I noticed it, PDI didn't and even the the local dealer said its something that would have never been picked up during PDI!

Reminds me of how many threads there were on the BMW forum about stiff suspension and they still had the transport blocks in!!!

I think my current car (Mondeo) had a damaged alloy on delivery but then I only noticed it a few months later.
At the point of noticing it I had never curbed it and there was a deep graze on the allow, not even a scratch.

I never said anything as it’s a motability car and thought it’s not worth the bother and just learn from my mistake and this time round in a month I will be checking every part of my Tiguan.

As an update chased up the dealer today and still awaiting acceptance of the claim by the transport company. Given timescale they have managed to find an alternative same spec vehicle in the country which is being transported down for delivery to the dealer tomorrow and hopefully prepped ready for collection on Saturday. Got a goodwill discount too as a bit of a bonus and obviously car will have no previous damage!

I would simply reject the car. I would then ask for a temporary Tiguan until the new ones arrives. the car will be noted on VW records has having body work. When you sell it privately or back to the dealer, you will lose money as it will have had basically accident damage.

The latest is that the replacement car is now with dealer and was being prepped today for pickup tomorrow. Will make sure I give the car bodywork a good once over particularly looking at gaps etc to
Make sure all looks above board!

Great result. Sounds like a good dealer that was on your side.
