Golf R theme OBDEleven

Post by Tammma » Sat Aug 01, 2020 12:43 pm

Have to say, I am liking the new alternate Golf R cockpit theme vs the stock Tig theme...

Before and after shots attached...

Funny how the R theme shows a 200mph max vs the Tig. Hah.

I did the same with Carista.....with the needle sweep on start!

Yes, I turned that on too...and I found a way to turn KESSY unlock off as well.

No need for any farraday pouches or boxes. Can now only be unlocked via a keypress.

Car can still be locked via the door handle however, just not unlocked. Ignition works as per normal.

My other half decided to go into the shops at peak hour....I found a better use of my time OBD11 coding in the carpark

I’m on the fence about Carista or OBDeleven, but this mod alone is worth it!

I think overall it gives a slight improvement, although I never have the 'classic view' on mine as shown in the first post.

The only thing I'm not keen on is you lose the 30 & 70 mph on the speedometer and have to rely on marks between 20-40 and 60-80.

Yeah that's true. I did think that myself...

The 20mile increments make it cleaner but little less clearer.

But I got over it since 1) you rarely see 30mph limits but always get 20s or 40s it seems. 2) the digital read out is right below or in the centre dial if you have the right view up.

Totally personal preference...just like how people's windows desktops are different...

Seems strange the digital speedo changing in increments from 20 mph - 40 mph When it reaches 120 mph? So that means each marker indicates a 10mph increase instead of 5?

I’ve never even noticed that on mine since changing it, probably because of the HUD which I tend to use to keep track of my speed.

The speedo with 200 is reading in kmh rather than mph.

It is clearly shown as MPH on the dial, not kmh.
