Unless there is a car stolen every night from your area I can’t see why it’s so expensive!

It would be interesting to know if we have any other members of a similar age with, again a similar vehicle, living in the same area of Birmingham, to give an idea of what theirs costs and maybe what company they’re using. There must be some other underlying reason for the ludicrous quotes you’ve had.
Bit of a long shot I know, but someone near you must have had a better quote!

Have you tried looking up your postcode risk rating? I’m sure with a google there’s a chart somewhere

It seems Birmingham is the most expensive city to run a car in the UK according to an article printed earlier this year.

Telling me, my previous car Golf GTD was mapped........this year cost me £320 fully comp. :(
All things being equal, this quote seems relatively reasonable especially with mods. If you’re at the same location and getting crazy prices on the Tig then like they say, “it’s the car” except it’s clearly not because so many other people manage to insure similar cars for much less.

Very strange and s****y problem to have. For all insurers to be so polarised the wrong way is quite worrying. I know they share data, but this takes the piss.

Have been with LV for a few years. Each renewal do a comparison and there have been no significant savings to make me switch. Just had this year's renewal of £627. Used their online quote system and got £388 for the same cover (London postcode, clean licence, one claim in last 5 years, have named driver on policy). Phoned them up, they agreed this was the same cover. All I had to do was not to renew my current policy and take out a new policy with them when the current one ended. Couldn't beat that price.

I had the same issue with LV= (London Borough etc) and my price came in at £516. After much wasted time trying to contact them (back in May - deep into lockdown) I ended up switching to Admiral which was £377, and I went through Topcashback got £35 quid back too.
Always worth shopping about

My wife recently went from being a university student to a job where she has to travel and due to the nature of the work and travel required we had to insure her car for business use as well as the usual fully comp pleasure/domestic/to and from work etc that we have.

We prepared ourselves for the worst but were met from LV Insurance with 'we'll put the refund back on the card you initially paid on' to out great surprise.

After querying it, it was confirmed adding business use to our fully comp policy was cheaper than being a (mature) student with fully comp!.
