Wireless Android Auto

Post by Sonu Johal » Wed Sep 09, 2020 10:36 am

Just done the Android 11 update on my phone. One of the new features is wireless Android Auto connection as long as the head unit in the car supports it. I haven't checked to see if mine works but will do a bit later on!

It won't. The head unit doesn't support it.

There are wireless adaptors that support Apple Carplay, however at the moment I don’t believe anyone has produced one for Android Auto.

There's this crowdfunding campaign for an Android Auto wireless device: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless/

I've just changed from Apple to Android ( for how long I'm not sure ) I bought the Carlinkit Wireless Adaptor for Apple Car Play in April I think it was about £159 and worked a treat ony iPhone 11 Pro Max, now I have made the switch to Android and therefore Android Auto ( Def not as good as Apple Car Play ) I really really miss the wireless aspect! Having to plug a cable in is a pain in the arse! When you're used to turning the car on and everything happening automatically

Might consider selling the Carlinkit Wireless Carplay Adaptor if anyone is interested send a pm

I bought one of the Carlinkit dongles from Amazon. Tried it for a few days but wasn't that impressed. It worked okay but was slow to "boot up" and there was a delay between pressing the button to skip to the next track and it actually happening.

Shame the Tig doesn' have this as when i'm in my Abarth that does have the wireless, guess VW just didn't invest the time/money into Android wireless.

Think it's in the new one. But i guess they didn't want to re-engineer the existing one which was up and running before WIreless took off in a big way.

Sorry to hear you didnt have a good experience with your adaptor , mines worked a treat and i loved not having to physically connect a cable to it

I've got 2 years before the Tig goes back so no doubt will have switched back to Apple by then 🤭
