Picked up my 1.5 150 DSG on Friday done 300 miles and seeing an average of 38mpg. Filled her up with 24miles on the clock and still have a range of 195 miles. I’m happy with that previous car Land Rover discovery sport 2.0 190 TDI was around 30-33mpg and had a tank range of just over 350 miles

Had the car 2.5 years. Reliably get 28-30 mpg around town and 35-38mpg on the motorway. Most recent trip to Leeds from London saw 42mpg for the trip. I'm not gentle with the throttle either.

Here's a slightly tangential question.

Why is efficiency measured as mpg in imperial, yet when I fill the car at the pump, I buy it in litres/metric, not gallons?

I could do the calculation in my head if I knew how many gallons I put in for each fill...

And another, why do we go to the pub and buy a ‘Pint” when we go the supermarket and buy our beer by the litre?

Totally! And in all seriousness, yet you buy milk by the pint?!

I'm pretty sure the answer is 'because it's always been like that....'

Pretty much. There was a European Directive harmonising on the metric system but the government was too worried that the old people (the ones who managed the decimalisation of money just fine) couldn't cope with the same happening to their milk and beer so we secured and indefinite opt out for those things.

I think it was a missed opportunity as I would gladly exchange my pint of beer for a litre.

The odometer is at 7850 km = 4877 miles
First 4551 km/ 2827 mile (99:59h engine run) average speed 46 kph (28 mph) - average consumption is 6.7 l/100km = 42.1 mpg
The last 3299 km/ 2049 mile (69:27h engine run) average speed 48 kph (29.8 mph) - average consumption is 6.4 l/100km = 44.1 mpg
