In Eco mode or Not .

Post by Dave1510 » Tue Sep 15, 2020 6:53 pm

Hi,
In my previous Tig, if I selected Eco mode, the gears showed as E1, E2, etc, there was indication in the centre display “Ecol, and it stayed in Eco unless I chose something else, or the trailer wAs attached.

In my Allspace it’s different:
The gears show E1, E2, etc when I select Eco from the switch. There are trees around the lane assist, and Eco is shown in the info screen.
However, if I stop the car and restart it, the gears show D1, D2 etc or M1, M2 if I move the selector sideways (as opposed to S1, S2 etc in normal.
There are still trees around the Lane assist, and the Eco is still showing in the info screen.

I assume I’m still in Eco mode, but why does E1, E2 change to D1, D2 if I stop...?

It's a thing on the latest Tig. Always does that.
I'm sure somone else can explain what the trees are about, but for the gearbox it will always revert to D

I get the trees... eco = environmentally friendly/ “green”/ trees...🌲🌳
I find it strange that my old Tig said E, the newer one says D... seems a backward step.
Thanks

Maybe the gearbox resets to normal mode, but the engine, ACC, etc stays in Eco, hence the trees.
It is stupid imo, but that's the way it is unfortunately.

It always resets to D after the engine has been off E has to be selected again, a real pain IMO as i always drive solo in E, I like the coasting.

What does the “individual” mode do please.
Will that allow settings to be retained ?
(If I set it to E mode will this retain in individual mode)

As I've not been on any long journeys yet, I've not actually tried Eco, only Normal or Sport but I notice the same applies with Sport - the gearbox reverts to D after ignition off and on, although the rest remains in Sport.

In D, mine does coast of its own accord sometimes (the Eco symbol appears on the dash) but I can often also make it coast by tapping the throttle after backing off.

Am I right in assuming it never coasts in any mode if ACC is activated?

I can select Sport from Normal by moving the gear selector sideways, but in Eco it shows M when I do this in Eco.

I’m not sure about coasting, but my “old” Tig used to coast in eco, and I think not in ACC, because it’s either slowing the car down to the preset speed, or trying to get to the preset speed.

yep, it won't coast with ACC on.
Coasting only works in ECO on 2wd cars
4wd cars will also coast in D

Mine can, also in D but not as often, it will also coast when towing, it will not coast when a DPF burn is running.
