How to remove chrome trim parts?
How to remove chrome trim parts?
Hi guys,
Do you know if there are guide on how to remove all the chrome trim parts from the Tiguan?
I’m planning on doing chrome delete by applying black gloss vinyl.
And for best result I would like to remove all chrome parts on the tig.
Around the windows, across the low side of doors, back on the bumper and the front bumper.
Appreciate all info you got.
If it is too tricky or a great risk of destroying clips.
I might just try to do the vinyl directly on the chrome trims on the car.

Re: How to remove chrome trim parts?
Personally I would put the cover over the chrome, you may love the idea and look but when you come to sell the car others may not and it will be easier to put back to the original look.

Re: How to remove chrome trim parts?
Hi,
What I meant was to apply the vinyl on the chrome bits after removal, instead of doing it while they’re still mounted on the car.
I think it would be easier to apply the vinyl on the chrome trims when the trims are removed from the car.
But I don’t want to risk that the clips holding the trims would break.

Re: How to remove chrome trim parts?
Did you ever do this, as I notice we don't get the black edition of the R-Line in the UK for the facelift model, and about the only part of the design I'm not 10% sold on is the chrome accents (including the especially tacky fake quad tailpipes in the rear bumper)

Hi, Never removed the chrome parts. but now afterwards I think the result would have been much better.
I found it very difficult to apply vinyl on the window behind passenger.
since i am a total beginner this took me sat+sun whole day

Pics.
Next is to plastidip roof rails.
I think wrapping will be no good here.
So that will happen in spring, outside.
Also bought some stickers for the R line logos on the side, and front.
And for the back emblem.
Which will have the chrome as contour
Not sure if it will look cheap/tacky

Hi,
I like these better than the shiny black suzukas.
Actually I think the Tig Black Edition look strange with shiny black suzukas.
Maybe matte (plasti dip would look better).
But I think I will keep my as is for now, Maybe plasti dip them later due to previous owner trashed the alloys due to parking. gahh.
And after I get new tyres next year.
