Scratch repairs?

Post by Tammma » Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:43 pm

Hey all,

Got back this evening and found this lovely gash on the front right. Annoying!

Any ideas for getting that out? Too deep to buff out?

If so anyone know any good scratch repair guys London east and south east that can work magic?

Thanks!

I think a lot of that will cut out. Obviously hit by a white or silver car as it has transferred to the trim.

Personally I would clean it as much as possible to then see what the real damage is. Might take an hour or so but worth it. Avoid using T-Cut as it is an abrasive that doesn't break down as you clean so continues to cut into the paint, I would use Meguiars ScratchX (or whatever their equivalent is these days).

Russboy - thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated.

Lots of variability with quotes. One guy wanted close to 300 quid for 4 hours. I presume he was going to do a spray for quite a large section of that bumper.

I think with those sorts of prices I might give it a wash and clean and then spend a few hours on it myself. Obviously wont be able to get it perfect but I think just getting the white lines out of it would be a start.

Interesting comment on no T-Cut. That was going to be the first thing I tried - so I will take that onboard.

i would use chips away from small scratches, they are cheaper and very good.

Chillyman is that a business/service, not a product right?
