What are the standard tyres

We've just covered 2k in our new model Tiguan. It's a brilliant car but we have had huge problems with grip/traction, I'm pretty sure it's the 2WD (wife's car)

It's got hankook Ventus 2 tyres on it, and in my opinion it's the tyres that are the problem.

Are these the standard fit tyres on the car? They seem pretty low end for an expensive VW.

Thanks for any responses, it's spoiling a car that's otherwise superb.

It depends on Trim level.

Pre-facelift R-Lines / RL Techs came with Pirelli Scorpion Verdes but that may have changed. I imagine it probably differs between countries too.

Fwiw I’m quite happy with the Scorpions. 18K miles in and they seem to be wearing pretty well so far.

I spent 6 months or so looking at mk2 RLine/SEL Tigs

The three most common tyres were perelli scorpion Verdes, continental cs5s followed by hankooks. Didn't see what model of hankooks but they probably were the ventus.

We're going to give some thought to swapping out the tyres as new.

I drive an M5 and it's really sensitive to the tyre brand and model. Weirdly the Tiguan is a better day to day drive than the M5 ... Never thought I'd hear myself say that!

Having driven the current M5, it's a real occasion to drive but used day to day it would shred my nerves, never mind the tyres!

I had ContiSport 5 SUV on my Kingston 235/55R18 wheels when new. I am really pleased with them, although I would have liked VW to provide the option of all season tyres.

Our SEL has the Hankooks and have had no issues with them, even in the snow and ice.

My SEL has had Hankooks from new. Very quiet and good grip in summer and winter.
Only problem (as have other members with Hankooks and Pirelli Scorpions) is circumferential cracking where the sidewall meets the main tread. Due to low mileage, the chief technician at my VW dealer concluded.

My SE Nav 4 Motion (18 reg) had Pirelli Scorpion Verdes, as does my 20 reg 4motion R-Line Tech. No snow to test them on, but never had any grip issues otherwise.
