Nav in cluster

Post by Snoopy07057569 » Sat Feb 20, 2021 5:48 pm

Hi all, new to the forum!

Just picked up a 2017 BITDI 240 with what I've worked out to be a mib2 infotainment system, cannot for the very life of me work out how to get the nav map across to the cluster????? Can anyone help? Also you able to replace these infotainment systems with newer updated versions? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.
If your Sat Nav maps run from an SD card inserted in the head unit in the glovebox- then you have the standard Discover Media Unit. This unit is not capable of displaying Sat Nav maps in the instrument cluster.
Only the Pro version with an internal hard Drive to run the maps has that capability.

That's wrong, you can display in the cluster or head unit, but only one of the 2. The pro allows simultaneous display in both. I seem to remember it's the view button on the media display?

Tricky is correct, as long as you have the Active info display / virtual cockpit of course, not the standard instrument panel, you can display the map via the navigation tab on that or on the central touchscreen. Only the pro allows it on both screens at the same time.

And to add, this only works with the built in nav, and not Android Auto or Carplay.

Tricky and others- I stand corrected.
Put it down to a senior moment- knew what I wanted to say, but didn't explain it properly.
I'll attempt to answer the OPs other question about upgrading the units.
Aside from the considerable expense, the main stumbling block is VWs 'Component Protection' where the unit is hard-coded to the vehicle.
Because of this it is virtually impossible to fit a unit already coded to another vehicle, so the 'buy new' route is the only option, where the unit has never been coded. But I may be wrong....

My biggest gripe about the system, would love to have my Tomtom app on there.

Well at least you can use your TomTom app in Carplay (not sure about AA), as I do now and again.👍

Yeah, both Carplay and AA are screen mirroring apps and only know about the one screen.
