Is the facelift Tiguan boot shape the same?

Post by MKW87 » Wed Apr 07, 2021 3:17 pm

Hi all

I have a facelift Tiguan model and want to buy some floor mats and a boot cover, but most websites don't list this as a separate car, and only give the option for "Tiguan 2016+". I have emailed a couple to check but didn't get any response.

Can anyone confirm that they are the same size? I don't want to go through returns and I thought they might be slightly different.

Thank you
Michael

I think the boot is the same size, but it depends what you have in it (or not) - whether you have a stock car (no sound system or space saver/full size spare). If not, the boot's deeper in the facelift version. I always had the variable load floor in my SEL in the lower position, and had third party a hard rubber mat. That mat doesn't fit the new Tig exactly as I have a spare wheel so have less boot space, and a rigid floor over the spare which brings the floor level with the lip of the boot - what would have been the upper position in the SEL. It can't be placed any lower.
However, I have a VW OEM soft boot mat which I originally bought for my SEL but in the end never used for the above reason, but it fits the new Tig perfectly.
So short answer rather aha my waffle, is, it depends.....sorry.

I would be very interested in buying it... if I knew if it would fit! Also probably not going near Hampshire for a while, sorry.

I have the base model, no sub no spare wheel, so if it's got deeper that suggests to me it'll be slightly different.

A supplier has come back to me to say that this won't fit if the car doesn't have the variable boot floor, which I am pretty sure I don't have. So I guess we wait for the new model to come out.

If anyone has found a good quality boot liner for the facelift model with a lower boot floor, please post it here!
