It wouldn't bother me if my next car had no sunroof, and I certainly would be paying around a grand for one.
Me either. Never been a selling point for me. I just happen to have one on my Lease car as it "came with it". Wouldn't miss it

..... I've removed the spider traps and use Gummi Pflege to keep the seals in good condition.
What/where are the spider traps? Should I be putting Gummi P’ on all the rubber door seals too? Thanks

I’m collecting my brand new Tig later today. Should I ask them to remove these before I get there?

I agree, ask them to remove the spider traps but I'd also ask them to test that the drain tubes are clear and are draining correctly (my first Mk2 Tig had both front drain tubes installed with kinks which pretty much blocked them and so the roof leaked).

Good luck with your new Tig.

Good find & video & completely understand the problem of the drain pipes clogging....
But is there another reason for the "spider traps" I wonder 🤔
If its a known fault & Continue to produce vehicles with the end caps fitted, surely there must be a reason for them 🤔
I've probably overthought this 🤐🤐 but might the uncapped drainpipes let hot air from the engine bay up the pipes to the outer seal in the roof thus creating condensation up there.......similar to how unvented headlights condensate up. Just a thought 🤐🤐
PS....I don't feel so bad at not having one now

Perhaps they just keep Spiders out.

No issues with panoramic sunroof on mine. VW did not install spider traps / end caps on the front sunroof drains my R-Line Tech located in the scuttle. It is easy to check they are draining ok with a jug of water. Use the sunroof regularly and is one of my favourite items on the car - would personally always go for a car with one - now issue resolved.
