Rear discs and pads on a 190 4 motion Rline SEE PICS

Post by tiggyboy » Sat Jul 13, 2019 4:41 pm

I guess there's been other posts about rear disc but just have a look at these pics I thought I'd share.

Mileage 13600
Less than 3 years old

Replaced rear discs and pads today with Pagid (good price with disc code from Eurocarparts and German made quality fitted by my local garage).

Lets see how long these last. Suspect it the auto hold brake doing the damage but VW said twice it normal....uuuummmmm

Unfortunately you are not the first to see this happen to your discs viewtopic.php?t=3804

It does seem very poor for a three year old vehicle to have discs like yours, did they suddenly go like this or was it a gradual corrosion from new. Is your Tiguan garaged, do you live by the sea etc

I can't imagine the auto hold and/or electronic handbrake has anything to do with it as you'd be using brakes and a handbrake in other vehicles, electronic or not. Could be caused by lack of use perhaps, not that that's any excuse for them to deteriorate to such an extent in a relatively short period of time.

Discs on wifes mk7 are atrocious. Think its just supplier they are using and maybe tendency for me to wash car on a Saturday and it to sit all weekend.

I picked the car up with 7k on it and they were starting to look a bit rough then, cant be sure of previous washing but not near the seaside. Maybe it is just the metal used to make the discs but the front ones are perfectly ok unless they not from the same supplier to VW.

It concerned me if the callipers were at fault but surely VW must be aware what the issue is, maybe needs a formal question to them.

Only good thing is paid 130 to replace rather than 289 at the dealer.

Great price and dealer may have only fitted the same poor standard of discs.

My 2019 rear discs came looking poor quality, some rust but have cleaned up with use, and I garage my car with the EB off.
