Annual oil change

Post by xtrailman » Wed Jan 15, 2020 7:02 pm

This is my first VW service.

I'm use to jap cars where the paper work after a service has always mentioned what fluids and filters have been changed, which is what I would expect.

I've 3 sheets of paper work and no mention of any filters being changed, I would expect to at least see a oil filter listed, but no only

"time and distance oil change and screen wash"

Is this normal and would it satisfy anyone that views my car to buy in two or three years when I sell?

The annual service should be oil change which includes a filter
Ask the delearship to confirm this and issue new paperwork
If this is something you paid for, it has to be listed on the paperwork

Pointless having an oil change without the filter

Mine goes in tomorrow for the same. I’ll let you know what I get. Interestingly, I got a call from the dealer today confirming time etc and was told there’s a recall on the vehicle but couldn’t tell me for what, that would also be done. I’ll let you know that too.

I had my fourth service earlier this month and on all occasions I have always had detailed paperwork listing every single item used and the cost of that item. I think the "time and distance oil change and screen wash" does include the oil filter and everything else used but they haven't detailed you invoice like mine.

This is taken from the paperwork of my first service which is fairly comprehensive:

Long life service £88.00
Castrol long life 5W30 oil £27.68
Filter element £8.47
Screw £2.65
Cleaner £1.72
Cleansing agent £2.40
V.A.T. £26.18

Total £157.10

Thanks it my fault because i didn't read all the paper work, but then i was talked through the work carried out, it was only when back home that i checked them from interest before filing, i'll give them a ring late this morning.

I have no costs on mine except £0 and it mentions service carried out under a service plan.

Probably relates to the towbar. I had a similar recall on mine when it had it's first service last September.

I have a factory fit towbar and no mention of any work carried out yesterday.

Phoned dealer today and they confirmed that the oil filter had been changed. Apparently they say that because its a service plan all billing and items listed that have been changed go to vwfs, so i don't get the same list??

I did point out that i had paid for the service plan it wasn't free, and i also had a service plan with my mazda but still got a comprehensive list of filter changed, both via paper work and on line.

She said she would look into it and see what could be done, but didn't sound very enthusiastic.

I must say i find everything about VW very strange, and i wont mention vwfs 11 month delay to put my plan in place in the first place.

When I dropped off the car this morning and asked what the recall was for, she looked it up and it's just a software update for the parking aid.

Parking aid update - Wonder if this will remove the annoying "Park Pilot currently not available" issue
