Not exactly true. We connect is indeed the newer version of the app, but this is also used to connect with the data plug. When it's working, it provides some usuful data and can also be used for trip tracking and as a refuelling log (like fuelio, sprintmonitor etc)
WeConnect and WeConnect GO are totally separate apps. You only need WeConnect Go to use the Data Plug.

How would I know if my car has Car Net Security & Service with or without Plus?

Is the 'Plus' standard on any specific trims or from particular years, it wasn't on the options list when configuring my car.

It is slightly annoying that We Connect doesn't do things like fuel and journey tracking that We Connect Go does.

I have an MY20 R Line and use both apps and a data plug. The primary reason for Go and the plug is that it tracks journeys, which is really useful for claiming expenses from work. I do wish I didn't need 2 apps to get all the information out of one vehicle.

This is what I found at https://connect.volkswagen-we.com/en_GB ... rvice.html

Security & Service Basic
Emergency Call Service, Vehicle Health Report, Service Scheduling, Breakdown Call, Automatic Accident Notification

Security & Service Plus
Driving Data, Doors & Lights, Vehicle Status, Parking Position, Area Alert, Speed Alert, Horn & Turn Signals, Lock & Unlock, Online Anti-Theft Alarm

daesimps - I take you have the basic if you cant view Driving Data? Can you use any of the other services?

No, I have the full security services plus available. Driving data is there, but the We Connect Go gives more information. It shows route taken, journey cost (based on refueling tracking and cost per litre) and much more information than the inbuilt We Connect.

I like the point you make trip history can be used for expenses. We Connect Go could be really handy if it provides more information over Driving Data in Car-Net

So was the Security & Service Plus a factory fitted/dealer option or was it already installed as standard and you just had to activate it? Also, is there a subscription to use the plus features? On my specification list, it's only listed as 'Car-Net Security and Service' without the Basic or Plus after it

Have a look in the brochure it showed what my SEL would get back in 2018 when i ordered.

You should get it all with a 2020.

Thanks xtrailman, that's very reassuring 👍🏽

Can somebody tell me exactly where the OBD2 port is located? Would any plugged in device be easily visible? A photo of it would be very handy

It’s just under the lower dash, roughly between the brake and accelerator pedal.
