Noticed a fan noise in glove compartment today - anyone else get this and is it normal?

I believe the glove box can be cooled by turning the temperature kob inside it, maybe you've knocked it when getting something out of the glovebox?

It'll be the actual media centre fan unit. You have to remember that the screen in the dash is just a screen. All of the processing and computing for the media centre, nav etc goes on in the unit in the glovebox. It's quite a sophisticated computer in real terms and it requires cooling, just like any pc. Hence you hear the cooling fan running.

That makes sense - ok seems like nothing to worry about in that case. I hate noises like this so I guess I need to learn to tune it out.

In part it's because the Tiguan is so quiet that you hear it. The same unit is in the rest of the vw range and it's only really been in the Tiguan that I've noticed it myself, despite different cars using the same glove box materials and positioning.

It might be worth just opening the glove box aircon duct a little so that cooler air is in there and so the media fan may spool less.

My last Tiguan (mark 1) had problem with aircon not being efficient, and it was the air con unit, which is just behind the glovebox, having slipped a little, and therefore the upper flap could not open properly. Present Tiguan probably has it in same place.
I had recharged it numerous times, changed the pollen filter, to no avail. Very simple solution.
