Anyone else found that Carnet has been unavailable for the last 24 hours or so?

I'm connected via my phone hotspot and everything has been working fine until recently.

Used it successfully on the way to work this morning.

Which head-unit do you have? Is is the new style Discover Media (touchscreen with only two knobs)? Which mobile network do you use? I have the new style head-unit and Car-Net has stopped working on multiple occasions (I've not made it longer than a month yet!). Only fix is to remove the car from the Car-Net portal, add it back in and make a note of the registration code, get into your car, factory reset the Car-Net settings on the head-unit, go into Car-Net settings and register with the new registration code. Needless to say you have to ensure the head-unit is connected to the Internet when you re-register it. Just so you know, Car-Net will not work properly on this new style head-unit if it is connected to the Internet through the EE network. This is a head-unit problem and not EE's fault. I've got a case open with VW but so far they seem to be ignoring all the detailed troubleshooting information (network traces etc) I have provided to them :-(.

Hi AberDino

Thanks for the info, as depressing as it is!!

I have the new style MY18 Discover Pro, with no knobs - just touch screen controls.

I called VW Customer Services tonight and they checked and confirmed that there were no outages on CarNet. They suggested I take the car to a dealer to have it checked.

I even tried connecting the car through my broadband router while it sat in the drive. The connection is fine and the car even shows up as connected.

Reconnected it via my phone hotspot, on the 3 network and still nothing. Again, it shows on the phone as connected.

I'll look at how to remove it from the CarNet portal and reconnecting.

Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.

OK - fell at the first hurdle!!

Anyone know how to do the "factory reset" AberDino has mentioned on the MY018 Discover Pro?

Edit: To answer my own question and in case its of use to anyone else!

There are Factory Reset options within the main setting menu.

I carried out the reset and CarNet registration as AberDino suggested and CarNet is now working again......

...or until the next time!

Hi Vel, glad you got it sorted :) . Interesting how this is an issue on the new style Discover Pro head-unit as well! This suggests it is using the same (dodgy) networking stack as the Discover Media. It's even more frustrating that Car-Net worked perfectly fine on the previous generation head units, also on EE! Just FYI, I've already had to re-register my head unit five times since I first registered it on the 8th of July. I'm an expert at it now ;) , although I find it extremely disappointing I have to keep doing it! It just doesn't seem to be high on the VW priority list to get fixed :( . Hope you are enjoying the car for the rest, I certainly am.

To add to this topic, I regularly fail to get my 'old' Discover unit to connect via the EE network. This lunchtime I tried for 30 mins with no success - kept saying no data connection, even though signal strength on the screen looked strong.

When I arrived, pulled on drive, and it seamlessly connected, of its own accord, to my house wifi signal, even though it was only showing absolute minimum signal strenght

Just a quick update to this thread to say that like AberDino, my Carnet connection failed again and again I have had to go through the delete and re-register process to get it working.

Thats roughly 3 weeks it lasted. Be interesting to see how it goes.

I had exactly the same issue with mine also on the same day as you, i also phoned VW and they said "no issues" but it just stopped working
I had to reset and re-register to get it to work, the error i was getting was something along the lines of code verification failed

Sounds like something VW did their end to me...
