Hello....,
Just registered for this forum and have a question regarding the brake pedal during start up. Just wondered if i could tap into your knowledge to get another opinion. My VW Tiguan was delivered in June last year and the model type is 2.0 SEL 4motion Auto - its a lease car through a broker. All was good for the first few months with fantastic driving but after a while I noticed the brake pedal was stiff on some mornings/evenings when the vehicle had been sitting for a while. Basically all night or at the end of the working day.
As part of the start up process you are asked to press the brake pedal in order for the car to start, on most occasions I apply my foot to the brake and gently squeeze so that the car starts but as above on some occasions the brake is so stiff its like pushes against a brick wall. I have searched online and there appears to be some historic issues with the vacuum system on some VW/Audi Models so not sure if the same is happening here.
Based on my small research I booked the car into the local VW dealer and unfortunately the same problem didn't occur for them and there is no fault registered in the car management system, so nothing they can do at the moment.
Anyway if you could let me know your thoughts...
Cheers
