Hello fellow Tiggy people, I hope you can help me
My 2014 Tiguan Match TDI BMT 4Mtn SA has recently developed a fault.
It randomly goes out of gear when slowing at a junction or roundabout, then just revs!
Switching off and restarting sorts it and it can be fine for a while but I've parked it up as I don't feel safe driving it.
The car also randomly won't go into 2nd, 4th, 6th or reverse gears.
The engine light is now on and I have an alternating spanner(wrench)/gear number in the display.
A friend with the VAG app and 2 garages confirmed it was a probably a Mech unit fault.
The car is currently in the VW garage and they have quoted me ÂŁ3k to replace the mech unit but they have said this may not fix the problem and a new gearbox may be needed, at a cost of ÂŁ6k (which comes with a mech unit so they tell me).
So which option should I give them the go ahead for mech unit and hope it fixes but then maybe have to fork out for a gearbox as well?
Many thanks in advance...
btw here's the log of my friend's app
