If you were to put your details in your signature we would know what model, seat type etc. that you have.
Not had any squeaks from my seats though.

Mine is like this. For a while it has made a short sharp creak noise when I lent into corners. Booked it in this week for dealer to take a look as managed to recreate it on a drive with them the other week. Fortunately over weekend the wife changed seat position and it got worse making the noises you mentioned as well so at least it was more obvious to them.

They called me this morning to say they have ordered a new seat base, but as it is a back order they don't know when it will arrive. So picking up car tonight and waiting till it arrives.

 

While stuck in traffic earlier I was able to investigate a little and the squeak seems to be coming from the left hand side of the drivers seat base, underneath the seat belt. I could feel the metal creeking whilst rocking back and forth on the chair

Same model, same age, same problem. Started before we even got it up to 1000 miles on the clock. Pretty shabby design by the sounds of things. Going to get it looked at when we go in to dealer to pick up my Golf R. Probably also needs a seat base by the sounds of things.

 

I have a 67 plate Tiggy also with a creaky drivers chair. most times I don't notice it, but when I do it is really annoying. I thought it was something to do with the tray behind the drivers chair, although haven't investigated properly yet. But does sound like its coming from beneath the drivers left hand side beneath the seat belt too.

 

I thought it was the picnic tray too, but it was definitely coming from under the seat, around the seat belt bolt.

I brushed a bit of grease on the joints under the seat and it stopped and hasn't come back since, I think the fibre washers they use are naff and grease is really needed

We had the base replaced over a month ago. Quite a faff as the base was on back order (unsurprisingly considering how many have issues) and when it came in they realised they didn't automatically come with bolts (surprised the bolts are single use). Anyway, base now fitted and over 1000 miles later no noise has returned. So all being well, that's cured it.

Yes fairly.

I put the chair as high as it would go and maximum tilt, then go in from the rear door, you can see all the pivots. Get a tub of grease (not oil!!!) I got mine from toolstation for about £3 and apply it to all the moving parts with a small brush

Just collected my mk2 in mar 19 and now the creKing sound from left side of driver seat started..chances on this post then realised that it's a common problem in the latest Tiguan

Has anyone upgrade to a electric chair before? Not sure if this is a option or not.

 

Is your issue resolved @ at9668? Had my MK2 about six weeks and is used mainly by my wife who hadn't noticed the squeak but as soon as I drove it at the weekend its all I could hear! Part of me wants to do as DH88 has done and just attempt to do it myself but am reluctant to give it a try until I've at least spoken to the dealership. Will be ringing them tomorrow to see what they say.

 

Just went back to the service center for the same issue 2nd time yesterday and they claimed that could not hear the noise anymore after they adjusted the seat position and applied some lubrication. Have a feeling that the same problem will come back pretty soon (last visit lasted 2wks and the noise back after that).

 

I HAVE had this . underneath the seat there are two bolts latches. if you raise the seat up you can spray with wd40. it goes away then. this is exactly what the dealer did and I got them to show me.

This has started on my 69 plate R-Line Tech over the last few weeks. I too suspected the tray table so I actually removed it and went out on a test run yesterday, but no difference, so it looks like it's the seat base.

Does anyone have specific details on the area I could try adding some grease to before I go through all the faff of booking it in with VW?

 

Just around the hinges, there are fiber washers which look like they were supposed to prevent squeaking but don't seem to be sufficient

under the seats there is a bracket. if you spray it with silicone, the noise goes away. i normally get it done at service

 

Thanks for that. I had a run out to the supermarket earlier and before setting off I cranked the seat up to its full height then back down again. This seems to have done a bit of good as I didn't notice any creaking on the journey. I've got some silicon spray on standby in case it comes back.

silcon spray is better its what use :lol:

 

I have a can of WD40 Silicon Lubricant. They say it doesn't dry out and is non-sticky. I don't see why that couldn't be used!
