Does anyone know if Car Net remote locking and unlocking, shown here in this video is available on all Tiguan models? I've a 2018 R-Line.

Seems it's available on 2018-19 models assuming you have specified the optional Carnet Security and Service package which I believe is available as an extra on top of the basic Carnet facility.

Not sure if it's available in Europe though as the only info I could find is on the US site.

Picking my MY2019 Highline (an Irish spec somewhere between the SE Nav and the SEL) up tomorrow and Car Net Security and Service is included on the spec sheet. It will probably take me a while to find everything but if I find it I'll report back.

I have Car-Net on my PC but I think you might be talking about VW Connect which I have on my phone, these are two different systems.
With my phone I have installed the VW Connect app, you also have to have a data plug fitted to your vehicle (free from your VW dealer) https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/volkswagen-connect?&gclid=CKnXj5nq9t8CFZEZGwodYgwEUA&mkwid=TjNOzW5l_71056004113001_vw%20connect_be_c&mtid=vdvv2y1xd0&slid=
It also depends which software version you have on your data plug as this decides functionality, mine is running software 6.0.10.40 which is the latest version.
You can have Security & Service Basic and Security & Service Plus versions, I think it is the Plus version that gives you the remote lock/unlock feature.

On the MY2019 update back last August all SEL and R Line Tiguans came with Security & Service plus as standard. Before it was a £340 option.
Security & Service runs through a built in SIM card in the car. It does not have remote locking, you can only check to see if the car is locked/unlocked or windows are open/closed and lights are on/off remotely, you can also see the range of miles left in the tank.
Car Net covers all services like Security & Service and Guide & Inform. You subscribe to these services.
VW Connect runs through a OBD data plug and connects via Bluetooth on either Android or iOS smartphones, on this you can send destinations to the infotainment system via the App on you phone. It covers part of the "Guide & Inform".
Guide and Inform works via a WLAN connection and not the built in SIM.

Can you update the software on the car and phone as i have version 4.6.1?
According to this link the software will update automatically, I've just checked mine and it up-to-date.
scroll down to the Q&A near the bottom all the Infor is there.

https://www.vwconnect.com/en-gb/
The version in question is for Car Net not VW Connect.
On Andoid the version within Google Play Store is version 4.6.1

I wonder what phone "CNC" has as he states his is running software 6.0.10.40

Must be an Apple phone if the Goggle software is still the same as mine at 4.6.1.
This is where paople are getting confused between VW Connect and Car Net

The 6.0.10.40 is the VW Connect is the software version for the VW Connect data plug.
OH OK, that makes sense, so the difference on what you can do on Carnet must be hardware related then as i can not lock my car via Carnet.

Yeah, its confusing as the video shows that you can unlock the car. Now that video was dated the 16th of this month so is it something they are adding to the "Security & Service" pack. If so it should be just a software tweek and hopefully be available to those that have the "Security & Service plus" pack.

People appear to get confused between Car-Net and VW Connect which are two separate systems. I use both and use Car-Net via my phone as a wifi hotspot, and connect to VW Connect via my phones Bluetooth. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8.

I had my new R-Line delivered yesterday so had a chance to activate a Car-Net. Below is what I have for Security and Service. Looks like both Basic and Plus are included.

There is service description manual available here as well and on the page 40 locking and unlocking is described.

The "Lock & Unlock" service can be used to control and check your vehicle's central locking system remotely
via the Car-Net portal or Car-Net app. This allows convenient locking and unlocking of the
doors and luggage compartment. For your security, it may be necessary to enter your S-PIN before you
can use the service.
Carrying out locking and unlocking in the Car-Net
app
1. Open the Car-Net app and log in.
2. Select vehicle.
3. Touch the function button or swipe from lefthand
edge of the screen to the right into the
image.
- A new view opens showing the vehicle status
and an overview of services.
4. Pull the screen downwards and hold for three
seconds.
- The current vehicle status is now displayed.
- The lock symbol indicates whether your vehicle
is locked or unlocked:
Vehicle is locked.
Vehicle is unlocked.
5. Touch or to lock or unlock the vehicle.
- In both cases, it may be necessary for you to
confirm the operation with your S-PIN.
6. Pull the screen downwards and hold for three
seconds.
- The current vehicle status is now displayed.

Hi

The screenshot you have placed on here with the Security & Service subscription? It seems this may have changed as I cannot find it within my login of Car Net

Have you got a screenshot of the app as this is mine and does it differ?

Newfie,
I have just started the whole process and I haven't done the vehicle Car-Net enrollment with the code provided. The plan is to do this tomorrow. I'm yet to install app as well but report back when all is done tomorrow.

If you think about it it is only an eSIM in the system and I bet its fitted to all the Discover Media systems. So really what you are paying for is just the subscription. I may be wrong but knowing VW they will sting you
