I do find it really annoying that everything has the same ping. Would love to change the low temp one
It even pings when I fart! Still, at least I can blame it on the low temperature.........:poop:

Noxious substance alarm 😁
According to my VC5 I'll have you know my NOx is only 0.025g/km (unlike my Passat which is 0.163g/km). :)

Well I suppose they would build the new cars with the updated steering wheel - I handed mine back officially yesterday and I can't say I miss it.

I had to complain to the dealership and they communicated with VW just to get my money back on the extras I paid for the vehicle. But in the end they agreed but I had to sign a disclosure to say they weren't admitting liability and it was full and final settlement.

I received nothing but poor CS from the dealership so I won't be going back anytime in the near future.

You obviously don't have to purchase the vehicle if you don't want to.

It is a known issue, they're making out not to be, I did an online chat with the dealership who claimed they knew nothing about the fault but when I questioned what the TPI notice was that I saw a note of on this forum; he then admitted ' we have a few that have come back to be rectified'. IMHO its a lot of money to spend on a car that to me (and a few others on here who have handed their back also) wasn't up to VW standard.

Beautiful car but to me personally functionality and reliability over brand and looks. I even test drove one before ordering back in May 2021. I picked up my new Ford Kuga yesterday and as standard on the ST line X you get way more for, a lot less. I had a Kuga before the Tiguan. I guess its personal preference and what your used to, what car are you changing from?

Unfortunately for me this issue is back and happening every time I drive the car. I had the camera and steering wheel changed last year and was told that would resolve it.
It is booked in with VW in two weeks and if they don’t fix it I’m getting rid. Scandalous that they haven’t found a permanent fix to such a big issue across the entire VW group.

You would think so, I’m glad to see the back of mine 3 weeks of my new car and not one ping!
I suppose they are keeping it hush because the amount of people that would be entitled to a refund under Consumer Rights Act 2015, I had to sign an agreement for my money back to state no further action and they didn’t admit responsibility which I’m not fussed about tbh just wanted my money back. But it drove me insane and I have anxiety, depression and panic disorder and told them I would be seeking damages if I didn’t get my refund.

I'm afraid this was the final thing for me that caused me not to order a new Tiguan and instead have ordered a new BMW X1. My order has no real recommended retail price difference with that of a similarly (or at least as close as I can make it) specced-up R-Line. Of course, I suspect discounts on VW are better than BMW as are servicing costs etc. I am under no illusion that running a BMW will likely be more expensive than the Tig but wanted a new car, the facelift Tig and the anticipated Mk3 don't do it for me, and so a change was necessary. Impressed with interior quality of BMW - just hope they are not having all the technical problems VW are having. Not expecting the car before September so will still be around on here for a while yet.

Hi, a little worrying this is still on going. I‘m hoping to keep the Tiguan for at least 10 years.
My current car is a Seat Leon FR on a 66 plate purchased brand new. It’s been faultless so far touch wood. I will be giving this car to my son.

It was honestly the biggest mistake I madesuch a stressful 15 months of having a car with non stop issues.

Dealerships won’t tell you the problem is a problem, because of the repercussions of it.

Glad to be rid of it, I would consider other options personally.

Just to point out, unfortunate as it is, it doesn't happen to the majority of vehicles.

There is a high online presence across but also not limited to VW; Skoda and SEAT are also having issues. Because of this I decided against any vehicles of those manufacturers for a replacement for a Tig, such a shame as other than that issue it was a lovely car.

Just something many of us who have experienced it can’t deal with; being as there is no effective resolution as yet. I know of 3 other people in my area with the same issue. And it’s a shame because it’s negatively impacting the VW Brand. Being that myself and others decided against a VW replacement.

Is the a new steering wheel fixing this for most people? Have a recent Arteon (Seems to use the same steering wheel and infotainment as the Tuguans) and the warning goes off repeatedly mainly when manoeuvring.
According to Tripleh (see post #10 of this thread), steering wheel was replaced and then fault returned three months later. So, a new wheel may not be a permanent solution - at least not for everyone.

I'm with you on this,my wife has a Tiguan R with almost every optional extra and I feel its ridiculous the money VW ask for these things for them not to work right and pity anyone who doesnt get a huge discount when ordering one.

A replacement car was ordered after 9 months(not a VW or any sister company) of having it from new and I certainly wont miss it.

Will be due a service at 12 months(next month) which I will get done and report the Traffic Assist issue so that the issue is either sorted when it comes to selling the car or at least the new wheel is on order for the prospective dealership who buys it(not that they will care).

Worst part is it was me who recommended my wife change from BMW and try the Tig R which looked good in reviews, really should have kept my mouth shut.

After having the Traffic assist warning appearing regulary for a week, I booked the car into local VW Dealer. Car is almost 10 months old with less than £3k miles on clock.
Diagnostics were undertaken and a software update and Re Adaption carried out to see if the error was resolved. Error message appeared again so yesterday the car was in again, codes checked and the result being a new steering wheel is on order, replacement time unknown. The service agent was upfront and apologised that they had to try the software side first before being able to replace and "yes" they have a few on back order from across the range.

I would suggest that if any owner has the error appearing regularly then discuss it with a dealer to ensure appropriate warranty will cover.

I am hoping the ping does not take over the driving experience.

My 2021, 2L tdi 4motion started with travel assist unavailable approx 4months ago booked into local VW dealer JCT600 Sheffield after diagnosis, they tell me I need a new steering wheel it's been on order for last 2 months they still haven't got a delivery date so the saga go's on. very disappointing Milton Keynes aren't showing any interest in sorting it as every time I call them I get put through to the back-order department then the message say due to a technical problem please call back later seems thay can't even sort the phone lines out.

Just had my 2021 Tiguan Elegance in for a diagnostic check for the Travel Assist unavailable issue. They confirmed that there is a problem with the steering wheel control unit and that a new control unit is on back order to repair the steering wheel. The service guy mentioned that before 17 March the Travel Assist unavailable issue was resolved by replacing the whole steering wheel. Now the Tech Instruction has been changed and a replacement of the steering wheel control unit should resolve the issue. He mentioned that they are bringing anyone who was diagnosed as needing a new steering wheel is being asked to return to the service dept to be reassessed for a control unit fix rather than a steering wheel replacement. Good luck everyone
