Hi, just had the same issue come up on my 2019 Tiguan allspace. 103000kms. I’m in Australia and have been quoted approx $4200 for a new mechatronic unit. Not sure if this price includes installation. I’m shocked at the issues I’m having with a relatively new car. Just paid for the start/stop glow plug to be replaced.
make yourself familiar with Australia’s Consumer Rights law. You are covered for a period of 10 years for items of significant value which become unfit for purpose.
we had our mechatronic unit replaced at no cost to us after making the VW dealer aware that we are covered by this law.

There do seem to be a lot of reports from Australia of these failures. Does anyone know where are the Aus are cars built?
Same as Europe, Wolfsburg for the standard Tig & Puebla Mexico for the Allspace.

From what we can see from posts here in the UK on this forum, the Mechatronic faults seem to be mainly component failure, usually one of the solenoid valves or sensors...I note that the specialist companies that repair the mechs give a lifetime warranty on the components they fit. I would be curious to know how? it implies that the components they use are better quality?

I read somewhere it's the lead free solder and mass manufacturing techniques.
When they (the re-manufacturers) give a lifetime warranty, it's probably due to the car in rebuilding/fixing the factory issues.

Yes the circuit board is immersed in the DSG oil. I'm sure someone on this forum said that the DSG is made by Borg Warner which is the best transmissions manufacturer full stop, but also said that the Mech comes from the Far East. it's a big relief that we have the specialist repair centres that can fix the mech cheaply.
