Coming across an issue with my Tiguan 2017 2.0, 7 speed dsg auto - 45300miles on the clock.

After 35mins of driving roughly the emergency gearbox mode (you can drive on) comes up and goes into limp mode. I then switch of the engine and it goes back to normal for 20 mins then message comes back.

If I leave the car overnight, it drives fine Asif nothing is wrong until it's all warmed up roughly 30mins of driving then back into emergency mode only gears 2 4 and 6.

My friend plugged it into his basic code reader and fault P0805 clutch positioning sensor circuit came up.

Any ideas what this could be or anyone came across similar issues?

I've read about mechtronic box failure but surely not being 2017 and only 45300 on the clock, and of course out of warranty.

Cheers
Did you ever find out what this was as mine is doing the exact same ???

Hi, this has just happened to me same model, what was the fault pls?

Dealer confirmed needs mechatronic replacement yesterday just waiting for claim to be accepted.only had car for 10 months still under approved used warranty so should be ok.

It’s been pointed out before that the mechatronics failure is PCB based and nothing to do with the oil. Looks like a luck of the draw situation.

Dealer updated mechatronics covered under warranty
However informed me they are on back order so will be weeks rather than days for the unit to arrive.
Good thing they have put me in hire car for the duration

Just had a call from vw service telling me that my car is ready for collection.mechatronic replaced.service guy was as shocked as me how quick the turnaroundfrom Germany was only ordered Thursday.
After reading posts thought it would be a long wait for me

It does reset when you turn ignition off and on.
But it will have stored codes and will come back again.
I got the warranty when I purchased the car.

You will need to clear the stored codes or vw will know you have been having problems with the gearbox.i believe you can purchase an all in warranty direct from vw but you may need an inspection service first

There is no longer an inspection, but when you go onto the VW website warranty and enter your reg, I believe it does a background check for service history (but don’t quote me on that)
There is also a 30 day exclusion during which no claims can be made

Having same issue Tiguan 2019 40,000 km. Turned off engine- turned on and it disappeared…
Beware though, once is often an indication that you'll have an ongoing problem very soon.
