I’ve got a 2024 passat ehybrid and I’ve been searching the net for an answer to the same problem. It seems there is no facility to set the car on a schedule timer: but my last car was an Octavia phev and I had no issues with the app and scheduled charging from a 3 pin plug charger!

I now have an ohme charger and the passat seems to scheule charge fine using that app, but we have 2 EVs here so sometimes I need the 3-pin as a backup. On YouTube there is a video for how to set up locations and schedules for the VW ID range, this button seems to be missing on the passat and Tiguan!!

go to 0:28 in the video to see the missing button!

I assume it could be fixed in future with a software update but it’s crazy for it to be missing!

As far as I can make out and confirmed eventually by VW technical support there is no in car facility to schedule a charge. Also cannot use a remote timer plug on 13 amp unit. I have a shell recharge unit with built in scheduler but it does not work with the eHybrid!!

Backward yes but it took three weeks for VW to admit you cannot schedule. Dealer had no idea! I asked if scheduling was possible to schedule a charge using their preferred Ohme charger. They said they do not support third party apps or equipment. Which I took to mean either no it cannot or they have no idea!

I have an ohme charger and app. The app is set up for my wife’s car, but plug mine in and it just charges to the pre-defined schedule in the ohme app, as long as the car is set to “charge now” so it seems I can get around the lack of scheduling issue as long as I’m using the dedicated charger.

When it comes to the 3-pin charger, it looks like you can start and stop the charging from the app, so at least I don’t have to go out to the car to tell it to start charging later on, I just have to remember to do it on the app!

I will be calling vw about this issue, if enough of us complain they will surely do something about it (if they aren’t doing so already!)

My 7kw shell charger will charge the car when you plug it in but if a schedule is set the unit switches off and the car thinks the session has finished and does not accept charge when the schedule should start. Even worse the car does not go to sleep and the 12v battery gets totally drained!!
I now we use Vw app to switch 13amp charger to start/ stop charging but still need to wake up at 12.20 am!! App does not work with wall charger

I have just taken delivery of the latest Golf GTE PHEV which has the latest 1.5 engine. I think I have the same problem. I cannot charge using a timer in the car unlike my previous 1.4 version.

’Charging loc’ is missing. Unlike in the bottom photo from a ID7. Does the screen in the Tiguan also have the ‘Charging loc’ missing?

I got the impression they will not as they concluded with the message tough schedule manually. I have a shell recharge unit that will not schedule my car but not sure if any chargers will schedule.

Octopus takes over car and this charger and sorts everything

What do you do now to get that cheap charging?

Chat to octopus they were very helpful
That’s very good that Octopus can do that. I wondered how you were going to overcome the problem after your previous posts and thought you might need to get a different charger. No need to chat with them though as my TDI doesn’t need charging 😉
